The 2008 summer tour follows on the heels of a remarkable few years in which Petty and the Heartbreakers have gone from strength to strength. The band’s sold-out 30th anniversary tour was the biggest of their career. The Peter Bogdanovich-directed documentary “Runnin’ Down A Dream,” a commercial and critical success for the band, established the Heartbreaker’s story as a striking embodiment of the American Dream. After the film premiered at the 2007 New York Film Festival, audiences worldwide saw the Heartbreakers’ story of triumph both in theaters and at home.
The summer tour promises to be a further affirmation that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are indeed one of the best live bands in the business. As in past years, the Heartbreakers will travel with a very special, handpicked support act. Previous tours have featured special guests including Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, the Strokes, the Allman Brothers, Stevie Nicks, and others. This summer tour continues the tradition of great musical packages, with legend Steve Winwood opening every show.

Designer holiday homes offering a kind of luxury almost unheard of in this country a generation ago are popping up on sea and lake coastlines throughout New Zealand. They may still be the preserve of the wealthy minority, but more and more New Zealanders - and foreign visitors - are buying into the lifestyle.
And one thing they have in common is very deep pockets.” Some places in Queenstown are going for up around $6 or $7 million,” said Mike Harper from Bayleys in Whitianga.” One holiday home in Mt Maunganui sold recently for $8m. It was absolutely amazing, indoor heated swimming pool - everything.” We are talking to people who have sold fairly substantial businesses and looking at retiring. They are very, very private and money is not really an object.
They want a place where they can totally relax.” We get a lot of people from the UK and US coming for six months a year. Some of them are semi-retired and operate businesses through the internet.” Harper has one property listed for just under $4m. The Bayleys website includes another at Omaru Bay, Waiheke, for almost $5m.It features a private swimming beach, with two boat moorings and a sundrenched deck, half the length of a rugby field.

For many viewers, the real star of BBC’s Sense and Sensibility is the remote, clifftop cottage to which the Dashwood family retreats when they are edged out of their home at Norland Park. And the good news is that it is available for holiday lets. Set on the Hartland Abbey estate near Bideford, Devon, it has four bedrooms, a living room with an open fire and views over the sea or hills” I’ve never seen anywhere with such a romantic, isolated setting,” said Charity Wakefield, who plays Marianne Dashwood.

Home goods retailer Williams-Sonoma Inc reported a decline in its holiday same-store sales on Tuesday and gave a weak outlook for the current quarter and upcoming fiscal year, sending its shares down 15 percent in premarket trade. The owner of the Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm chains said sales at stores open at least a year fell 0.4 percent in the nine weeks ended Dec. 30, hurt by weak demand for home furnishings. Net revenue for the period rose to $1.02 billion from $977.8 million a year earlier, but the increase was less than expected. Williams-Sonoma, which said the weakness has continued into January, cut its outlook for its fourth quarter, which ends on Feb. 3.
It now expects earnings of $1.11 to $1.14 per share on revenue of $1.36 billion to $1.39 billion. Analysts on average were expecting $1.20 per share on revenue of $1.39 billion, according to Reuters Estimates, based on the company’s prior forecast for earnings of $1.19 to $1.25 per share on revenue of $1.39 billion to $1.42 billion. For the next fiscal year, the company said it expected net earnings per share to decline at a mid-to-high single-digit percentage rate, with net revenue flat to down in the low single digits.
